Here I matched a 3D cam with the live actionplate and matte painting, then I modelled the environment.
Added some props like lights. Making low-res Instances for the people and projecting the footage on them to get the shadows and the reflection on my 3d environment. Done in XSI. I did the dust effects and steam effects with the particle system of digital fusion.
The piece of the rocket which is lift up is shooted, and it is the only original rocket piece which is left, from the historic V2.
The set had no slab, because the authentic slab was too complicated to rebuild, and it was much easier to make it 3d. I did the hole in the given 3d model.
For that Shot I did everything, except final colorgrading. Starting with 3D tracking (Camera and Object), which I did in 3DEqualizer. Matte painting for the Background, using photoshop.
With camera projection technique I projected new textures on the airplane. Rendering and shading done in XSI. I did the dynamic simulation of the particle effects in Maya. Final Rendering with XSI.
Texturing and shading the model. Preparing passes in XSI.
For that particular shot I did the matchmoving with 3DEqualizer.
Here I did the matte painting and matchmoving. The background was rendered in XSI.
